Birmingham Ormiston Academy offers students the opportunity to specialise in the subjects they love and in which they show real talent. Our Curriculum combines core subjects with a specialist pathway course and two additional option subjects. The Academy meets the legal requirements of the National Curriculum and the option to follow the English Baccalaureate.
All students are required to study GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Science, GCSE Citizenship Studies, and a Personal Development course. Students also study their CHOSEN PATHWAY course in either creative, digital or performing arts (a BTEC Award). Technology and ICT are embedded in the curriculum. Finally, all students choose two further GCSE subjects from a list of options to broaden their learning.
The main aim of the pathway curriculum is to provide students with industry style performance opportunities, empowering them to learn more about their chosen art form and themselves.
