Teacher of Music (F/T or P/T)

We are pleased to advertise an exciting opportunity to work in a unique and vibrant performing arts academy with staff and students who are truly delightful. Specialising in Creative, Digital, and Performing Arts, students must earn a place on their chosen arts pathway through an aptitude process which means they value their place at the academy. As a result, behaviour is exemplary.
We are rightly proud of our recent Ofsted report (May 2023) which gives a true picture of what life in the academy is like. We highly recommend that you read the report before applying and that you book a tour with the Vice Principal to get a feel for our ethos, to meet our fantastic students, and to gain an impression of the learning environment. Our report can be found here.
Due to an increase in the number of classes we will offer across the Music Pathway for September 2025 onwards, we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, optimistic, and talented practitioner to join our successful Music team. Results are excellent with at least 70% of KS4 students achieving the top grades (Dist/Dist*) in music last year. Similarly, 91% of students in Year 13 achieved at least Distinction, Distinction, Distinction (or higher) for their BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Music and Music Technology. Impressively, 86% of Level 3 music students achieved the top grade (Triple Distinction*).
The department is experienced and supportive of teachers and students alike. We are ambitious for our students and work collaboratively to ensure all learners are passionate about the subject and achieve well. The Music Department benefits from dedicated teaching rooms, rehearsal spaces and a professional recording studio, as well as a spacious work area for members of staff. Students' experiences are enhanced through a range of showcases in BOA Theatre or at local performance venues.
Key Stage 4 students are entered for the BTEC Level 2 TECH Award in Music Practice. Post-16 students in Year 12 and Year 13 follow the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Music or the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Music Technology. Schemes of learning for all courses are completely bespoke and fully resourced with our own high-quality lessons and formative assessments, taking full account of teacher workload.
