How will I study?
Students are provided with a broad based music technology curriculum and have the opportunity to study a wide range of musical fields.
All students will learn to compose and arrange music involving a variety of music software. Throughout the course students will study 18 different units of work. A wide range of themes include audio engineering, backline technical management, live sound techniques, music technology in performance, sequencing systems and music in the community. The course introduces a practical approach to operating sequencing software and also recording studio equipment. The teaching staff are all active musicians. Showcases of students work will take place during the course at BOA.
The course is based in a purpose built facility including 9 practice rooms and a recording studio linked to a control room with mixing facilities. The course suits those with a passion for music technology who wish to extend their musical experience before embarking on a career in the music industry.
How will I be assessed?
All coursework is internally assessed and verified regularly through assignments. There is no exam, although showcases of work should be treated as examined events.
The qualification is broadly equivalent to 3 'A' levels. Students can achieve up to 360 UCAS points which means they can choose whether to go straight into employment or go into higher education first.
