BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts - Performance
What will I learn on this course?
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma is an intensive and exciting 2 year course, delivered by highly qualified teaching staff who cover the 3 disciplines of Musical Theatre. The Musical Theatre pathway is a practical course enabling students to develop and extend their skills and knowledge in the three disciplines of dance, acting and singing. Alongside these, you will also develop your creative and performance skills to be supported with an understanding of the Performing Arts world. This specialist programme is aimed at students who are passionate about developing their skills, knowledge and understanding in all three areas. Students should have a high level of fitness, creativity, commitment and motivation.
How is this course structured?
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Performance (Musical Theatre) consists of 7 specific skill units that students study over 2 years. Students will study these units over 7 hours of pathway time - 2 hours in Dance, 2 hours in Singing, 2 hours in Acting and one full company hour.
How will I study?
Students will take part in technical classes, creative workshops, projects, performances and theoretical sessions led by specialist Musical Theatre staff and visiting professionals. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with other pathways and visit the theatre regularly.
Students will be invited to join extra-curricular performance companies at BOA to support their study on the Musical Theatre pathway.
How will I be assessed?
Each BTEC unit is individually assessed with Pass, Merit or Distinction grades.
Further Learning and Career Options
Students' experiences at BOA will enable progression to the Post 16 courses at BOA, or A Level study at other institutions.
